06/2022 Porto, the picturesque city on the banks of the Douro River, is home to a variety of historical treasures, including the impressive Igreja dos Clrigos. This architectural masterpiece, built in the 18th century, is not only a major landmark but also a fascinating example of Baroque architecture.
The Igreja dos Cl rigos, also known as the Church of the Clerics, was built by Designed by the Italian architect Nicolau Nasoni and completed in 1750. Its imposing exterior is characterized by an elegant façade decorated with lavish carvings and ornate decorations. The striking clock tower, one of the tallest in Portugal, rises majestically over the city and offers breathtaking panoramic views of Porto.
A highlight is the opportunity to climb the clock tower. Even though the climb up 225 steps requires some effort, you will be rewarded with an unforgettable view over the red roofs of Porto and the glittering Douro. The narrow stairs and the narrow spiral staircase give the climb an adventurous touch, and once you reach the top it becomes clear why this place is one of the must-see sights in Porto.
